Message from the Music Director

Welcome to the Downey Symphony Orchestra’s 54th season!  As always, we have a stellar lineup of guest artists for the upcoming season, plus some of your favorite symphonic classics. We begin the season honoring Downey’s Latin American culture with a program entitled “Fiesta!”  Highlights of this concert include Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez, performed by 18-year-old prodigy, Tim Callobre, and the ever-popular Bolero of Ravel.

The talented string section of the Downey Symphony will be featured in our winter concert, along with the winner of the DSO Young Artist Competition, Youjin Lee.

Internationally renowned pianist, Kevin Fitz-Gerald, joins us for a powerful conclusion to the season with a performance of Liszt’s Piano Concerto No.1. This, in addition to a few Russian classics, promises to be a memorable evening.

Please join us for a series of concerts by an orchestra hailed as one of the best metropolitan orchestras in Southern California. The Downey Symphony and I look forward to seeing you at the concerts!

Sharon Lavery
