Trumpeter Conrad Jones, 22, began studying at the Juilliard Pre-College on full scholarship in the fall of 2005. He recently received his bachelors degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music and is currently pursuing an Artist Diploma at the Colburn School in Los Angeles. Jones is a winner of DownBeat Magazine's Student Music Award in both classical and jazz solo performance, a winner of the 2008 Yamaha Young Performing Artist Award, a two time winner of the Tuesday Musical Association Solo Competition, and most recently the winner of the 2011 Pasadena Showcase House Competition Brass Division. Conrad has been a featured soloist with the CIM Orchestra, the University Circle Winds, Atlantic Wind Symphony, and will be appearing with the Downey Symphony Orchestra this coming season. He is currently a member of CityMusic Cleveland, the Spoleto Festival Orchestra USA, co-principal trumpet of the American Youth Symphony, and second trumpet in the YMF Debut Orchestra.
Catherine Del Russo, English horn
Catherine Del Russo received her Bachelor of Music Degree and Performance Certificate from the Eastman School of Music where she studied with Robert Sprenkle. She also received her Master’s of Music Degree from Ohio University while studying with John Mack in Cleveland.
Since then, Catherine has performed around the world starting with the Eastman Wind Ensemble tour to Japan and the Far East as Principal Oboe. After that she played with the Buffalo Philharmonic, Filarmonica de Caracas and Orquesta Municipal in Caracas, Venezuela. Ms. Del Russo has played Principal Oboe with many orchestras, including the Santa Barbara Symphony, Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra, Long Beach Symphony, the Los Angeles Mozart Orchestra, Pacific Symphony and Glendale Symphony. In 2001, she was the Associate Principal Oboist of the Honolulu Symphony in Honolulu, Hawaii. Currently, she is Principal Oboist of the Santa Monica Symphony, Downey Symphony and Symphony in the Glen and English horn of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and Asia America Symphony. Ms. Del Russo performed the lovely English horn solo “the Swan of Tuonela” by Sibelius with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra conducted by John Mauceri in the Fantasia Concert two different seasons.
Catherine has enjoyed playing on many films, commercials and television shows and was oboe and English horn for the Los Angeles run of “Beauty and the Beast.” She has been a promoter of new music and much chamber music in Los Angeles. Recently, she won the Consortium of Southern California Chamber Music Presenters with her trio consisting of oboe, viola and piano where they are performing at prestigious venues, including The Greystone Mansion. Catherine is Professor of Oboe at Occidental College and Pepperdine University.
